Crib Blanket: A Crib Essential
A crib
blanket, also known as a baby blanket, is indeed one of the essentials to be found inside a crib.
Aside from providing warmth for the baby when inside the crib and napping, it protects dust and other bacteria from
making its way to your baby’s bed and pillows. These blankets are usually very soft and are typically longer than the baby. Baby blankets
provide a high level of comfort for babies, which is often why even when they grow up they find that they only feel
secure when they are wrapped in their blankets (hence the term “security blanket”).
As mentioned, the primary function of a baby blanket is to
provide warmth. They are usually longer than the baby in order to ensure that, throughout the night, the baby is
fully covered by the blanket.
When the baby is awake during the day, the baby blanket doubles
as a cover for the crib. It protects the bed and mattress from dust and other bacteria that may be present in the
air and in the room.
A crib blanket is generally very soft. Usually made out of
woven fabrics like cotton, woolen, or synthetic yarn, these blankets are very soft to the touch and even have a
velvet-like quality to them.
The height of the baby blanket is very important. A long baby
blanket ensures that the entire body is covered and that the toes are not left exposed. As an added bonus, long
blankets ensure that, as the baby grows, there is less need to keep purchasing new ones.
Baby blankets come in a variety of different designs and it
really depends on what style you feel will suit your baby and his or her crib. Generally, you want to choose one
that is light-colored so that you are aware when it is in need of washing. Additionally, blankets that are light in
color, especially when compared to dark-colored blankets, ensure that they do not absorb too much light from the
sun.
A baby blanket is very different from a baby comforter. The
baby blanket, as mentioned, is made from woven fabrics like cotton or wool. Comforters, on the other hand, are made
from soft fabric stitched together and filled with layers – layers typically made with cotton, down feathers,
polyester, silk fibers, and even wool. Due to its numerous layers, baby comforters tend to be much heavier and
sometimes provide more warmth than your baby actually needs.
A crib blanket is indeed a
necessity in every crib. Providing warmth for your baby during the night and keeping the crib dust-free during the
day, these blankets serve important purposes.
