What is a Mink Blanket?
When you see, or hear, the term
mink blanket it conjures up an image. You picture a
blanket made from the pelt of many small minks.
This image is of a blanket that is made of fur like the days long gone by when cavemen lay under fur blankets to
protect themselves from the cold. Even if it doesn’t make sense to you how, or why, someone would make a mink
blanket you can still see that image in your mind. You will be glad to know that in actuality it does not refer
to a blanket that is actually made of mink.
The term mink blanket was first thought up by
the Chinese and used as well by the Koreans. It was started to denote an image of a very soft type of blanket. The
material used is most often man made, usually from acrylic. These blanket makers wanted their customers to be able
to picture a blanket that would be luxurious, soft and warm. Mink makes them think all of those
things.
One of the other interesting things about a
mink blanket is that it will seem to be sold with any number of interesting patterns on it. These patterns can vary
from animals to flowers to pictures of current or long dead movie stars. They do also come in solid colors but that
is more unusual instead of more common, as you would suppose.
These come in several sizes including
twin/single, queen and king for your beds. But they also are available in throws to cover that tired looking piece
of furniture and give it that fresh new look. When you are thinking about buying a mink blanket make sure you get
the best quality you can. Many companies have two grades of these blankets, the low grade and a higher quality
blanket grade. The low grade is just a blanket. This will be reflected in the feel and in the price. The superior
grade blanket, which will be much more expensive, will also be incredibly soft, warm and luxurious. You
chose!
